An exchange students visit from University of Bath at UK to the NISC as part of the activities for the water management project

The NISC at Nile University recently welcomed six researchers from the University of Bath, UK, for an international visit that combined academic exchange and cultural exploration. The visiting team brought together expertise in electrical engineering, chemical engineering, physics, and mechatronics, reflecting the multidisciplinary nature of their work. During the NISC bi-weekly meeting, they presented their ongoing project on developing a portable, handheld water quality sensor for fixed-point monitoring. Their main contribution lies in the chemical design of the sensor probes, which are integrated with a mobile app via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and supported by AI to forecast the water quality index. Throughout the visit, they engaged in technical discussions with Nile University researchers, exchanging valuable knowledge and experience. The team also visited the chemistry lab and the Soft Robotics Biohybrid Lab to explore ongoing research activities at Nile University. Other than academia, they enjoyed Egypt’s rich culture with visits to Khan El Khalili, a Nile cruise, the Pyramids, and Alexandria, making the visit both scientifically productive and culturally enriching.
