About NISC

NISC was established in 2009 to fill the technology gap between Egypt and the global electronics industry. The center aims to act like a passageway to transfer the Nano electronics technology from abroad to the Egyptian society. A master program was created to provide the graduate students with significant experience with the techniques and tools involved with Nano electronics integrated systems. The program objective is to prepare professional engineers in the Nano electronics field equipped with the right design tools.

Projects

Smart Systems

Smart Systems This project aims to implement smart solutions for agriculture, water management and smart cities. The project utilities AI on embedded systems and IoT for system implementation. Furthermore, we use smart energy management and harvesting techniques to extend battery lifetime and/or removing the battery at some point from the system. The project is multidisciplinary based on collaboration between different groups such as the front-end group and the embedded systems group. Currently running projects: Smart Agriculture in the IOT ERA Water management system Smart Metering System

Healthcare systems

Healthcare systems This project aims to implement a wearable devices for continuous healthcare monitoring by monitoring different vital signs such as temperature, pulse rate and glucose. We work in this project in collaboration with different hospitals in Egypt to validate our device performance via clinical trials. This project is leading the translational research for biomedical applications in Egypt as it is first one to get ethical approval for clinical trials in Egypt using devices developed in Egypt. Currently running projects: Pre-Emergency Alert IoT System Based on Wearable Devices for

Self-powered Devices

Self-powered Devices Energy harvesting suffers from instability in the harvested energy which means there are strong fluctuations in the amount of generated power over the time. Traditional solutions is to use rechargeable battery or super capacitor to maintain the power level. So, the goal of this project is to overcome the usage of the battery by using smart energy management techniques to make the system survive severe energy conditions. We also, design and implement novel energy harvesting circuits to interface with the actuator to optimize the harvesting process. Currently running

Open IP cores platform

Open IP cores platform In digital design, we have implemented many hardware accelerators for many algorithms which have been validated by implementing them on FPGA. The goal of this project is to put these modules as an open source code for other researcher to reuse it. The project aims to maximize the research impact of the research done by the group by sharing the code as an open source code. Currently running projects: Hardware Implementations of Information security Using Number theory and Chaotic system. Fractional-order Complex Chaotic Systems: FPGA Implementation and Applications
